At the end of their course of study, students receive either a Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry or Certificate in Youth Ministry in accordance with the guidelines of their specific program and location. The following are descriptions of the specific youth ministry courses taught in addition the general courses offered by the seminaries and Bible colleges.
Basics of Youth Ministry
This course examines the Biblical basis for determining success in Youth Ministry, development of the Youth Ministry's main statement, mission and goals and gives tools for measuring success in Youth Ministry. Focuses on understanding the needs of teenagers and the specifics of professional leadership/pastorship in Youth Ministry.
Youth Culture
This course examines the characteristics of modern youth and teenager cultures. Emphasis is placed on recognition, integration and use of modern youth culture. Resources include face-to-face interaction as well as exploration of mass media resources and teen periodicals. Students will learn how to evaluate teenager culture in the light of Scripture.
Development of Youth Ministry programs
This course explores the administration and management of the student’s ministry, including outreach and strategies for engaging with youth and their families. The student will acquire knowledge for management, strategy and program development, calendar planning, budgeting as well as its implementation.
Development of a curriculum for Small Groups
This course is a study of student and teacher characteristics for developing a Bible plan for home groups. The goal is to acquaint the student with views on the ministry of home groups and to guide in starting their own.
Modern methods of Communication and interaction with young people
Study of the techniques of behaving on the stage and in front of the camera lens, of drafting a youth sermon and lesson and general qualities of language in the context of cultural relevance. Special emphasis is placed on teenagers and communication to their age group and development stage. The course includes studying the process and practice of imparting biblical truth to young people, as well as teaching the Scriptures and preaching the Gospel.
Counseling in Youth Ministry
This course is a study of biblical principles, concepts, and methods most commonly used in personal and youth group work. Special attention is paid to the role of biblical truths and theology in the counseling process. Common problems of young people and strategies for working with them are also considered.
Discipleship in youth ministry
This course examines the principles and methods of spiritual maturation in the context of social, physical, and cultural development of youth, examines physiological, developmental, social, and environmental factors affecting spiritual development. The subject focuses special attention on the study of the biblical and theological principles of discipleship and their application to the process of discipleship.
Professional Orientation in Youth Ministry
This subject helps the student focus on their call to ministry and examine theirpersonal growth and commitment. Job description, team and relationship development, goal setting, time and financial management. Students practice: professionally writing resumes, and formulating ministry strategies, values, and philosophies.
Planning and development of youth Camps
This course is a study of the fundamental principles in the organization and formation of the Youth Ministry through the organization of the camp ministry. The students is taught the stages of preparation for the youth and teenager outreach camp: gathering and organizing the team, designing the camp program, recruiting participants, conducting and evaluating the camp.
Youth and Family ministry
Ministry leaders must understand the essence of the family and its importance in the upbringing of teenagers, be able to collect and analyze information according to the situation related to youth and family ministry, and also offer an answer to the needs of teenagers and parents in the family and church setting. Special emphasis in the course is devoted to the theology of the family, premarital counseling, as well as resources for parents and working with parents.
Contemporary Youth Missions
This course examines contemporary youth missions so that youth and teen leaders can effectively serve people of another culture for a short period of time. Emphasis on three areas: The importance of participation in God's mission of reaching the peoples; How to become an international youth ministry teacher/educator, and how to lead a youth mission trip to local and international locations with a local church group.
